Every product crossing a border needs a tariff code, and that code decides the duty. 1ecomm connects to TariffEasy, our customs platform, through an app you install on your store: it classifies each new product and keeps an estimated US duty rate beside it.
How it switches on: Install the HTS Duty Calculator from your store’s App Marketplace. It classifies products as you create them and writes what it finds onto the product. It does not add duties to checkout, and it does not file anything with customs.

Why it matters
The problems it takes off your plate
What merchants tell us goes wrong, and what the platform does about each one.
“I guessed a tariff code from a web search and hoped it was right.”
A code with something behind it
The app asks TariffEasy for the closest matching HTS codes for the product you just created, and stores the best match on the product instead of leaving the field blank.
“I only learned the duty after the shipment was already on its way.”
An estimate while you are still pricing
Alongside the code, the app stores an estimated US import duty as a share of the product’s price, so the number is on the product while you are setting margins.
“Every classification tool wanted its own spreadsheet of my catalog.”
It reads the catalog you already have
The app runs inside your store, reads the product you just created, and writes back to that product. There is nothing to export and nothing to re-import.
“Customs paperwork lives somewhere my store knows nothing about.”
The customs side has its own home
TariffEasy is a customs platform in its own right — a broker marketplace, a licensed-broker workbench and landed-cost quoting — and your store connects to it rather than duplicating it.
How it works
What happens behind the screen
1
Install the app
The HTS Duty Calculator is a first-party app in the App Marketplace. Installing it grants it two things only: reading your products, and writing the two fields it fills in.
2
Create a product
Creating a product runs the app in the background. Your product save never waits for it, and a slow or failed classification never blocks the save.
3
It classifies and estimates
TariffEasy returns the closest HTS matches for the product’s title and brand. The app stores the best full 10-digit code, then asks the calculator for the duty on that code and stores the rate.
4
You confirm or change it
The app’s own screen lists your products with their suggested codes, and you save the ones you agree with. A suggestion is a starting point, not a filing.
Get started
How to switch it on
The exact screens, in order. Nothing here needs a developer.
1
Open your App Marketplace
Go to Store Settings → Apps & Sales Channels → App Marketplace and install HTS Duty Calculator.
2
Add a product
Create a product as usual under Products → Add. Give it a clear title and brand — that is what the classifier reads.
3
Check what it found
Open HTS Classifier under Apps and review the code and duty rate against your own knowledge of the goods.
4
Take the rest to TariffEasy
For landed-cost quotes, a licensed broker, or filing, use your TariffEasy account at tariffeasy.com. Your store is the catalog side of that work.
What's included
Built in, not bolted on
Classify
HTS code on every new product
Automatic classification when a product is created, from the product’s own title and brand.
Estimate
US duty rate beside the code
The landed duty for that code as a share of the declared value, stored on the product.
Review
A screen that lists suggestions
See the suggested code for your products and save the ones you accept.
Storefront
An optional product badge
The app can show the stored code and estimate on a product page.
Scoped
Two permissions, one destination
The app reads products and writes its own two fields, and may only talk to tariffeasy.com.
Platform
TariffEasy behind it
Classification and duty come from TariffEasy’s own HTS data and calculator, not from a table inside your store.
Straight answers
What it does not do yet
We would rather you know now than find out after you have planned around it.
– Duties are not calculated or collected at checkout. The code and the estimate sit on the product; shoppers are not shown a duty total at payment.
– The stored estimate is for import into the United States, from a default country of origin when a product does not state one.
– A suggested code is a suggestion. You are responsible for the classification you use, and neither 1ecomm nor TariffEasy gives customs or legal advice.
– The app classifies a product when it is created. Existing products are not classified in bulk, and editing a product does not re-run it.
– The review screen and the storefront badge fall back to a small built-in table of common goods rather than asking TariffEasy for every row.
– Customs filing, broker marketplace and landed-cost quotes happen in TariffEasy, not in your 1ecomm admin. TariffEasy’s own filing integrations are not certified for production use yet.
